Renting in Antigua

Quick answers to the questions renters ask most. Details differ between landlords, so always confirm before you pay.

How does Rentals Antigua work?

Browse homes, then send a message from the listing page. We pass it to the landlord and help set up a viewing. We list homes but we are not a party to your rental agreement.

How much deposit should I expect?

It varies by landlord. A deposit of one month's rent is common, and some landlords ask for more, or for the first month up front as well. Ask what the deposit covers and the conditions for getting it back before you pay, and get it in writing.

What contract lengths are available?

Each listing says which it offers: monthly rolling, a short let of one to five months, six months, or twelve months or more. Longer terms often come with a lower monthly price, so ask.

Are prices in EC$ or US$?

Prices on Rentals Antigua are in US dollars per month, with an EC$ figure shown alongside. The EC$ is pegged to the US dollar at about 2.7, so the conversion is stable. Confirm with the landlord which currency you will pay in.

Are utilities included?

Some listings include electricity, water, internet or cable in the rent, and the listing says which. If they are not included, ask for typical monthly costs. Electricity is usually the biggest, especially with air conditioning.

What about power cuts and water supply?

Outages and low water pressure happen in parts of Antigua. Look for backup power and water storage in a listing's amenities, and ask the landlord how the home copes. A cistern or tank is common in homes that rely on rainwater or deliveries.

Can I view a home before I commit?

Yes, and you should. Ask for one when you message about a home, and say when you will be on the island. If you are overseas, ask for a video walkthrough and extra photos before sending any money.

Can I bring pets or smoke?

Each listing states its pet and smoking rules: allowed, by arrangement, or not allowed. If it says by arrangement, ask the landlord before you apply.

I am a landlord. How do I list my home?

Send us a message with the area, number of bedrooms and the rent you have in mind. We will reply by email and handle adding the listing.
